EEntrepreneurship
Reference: Richard Cantillon ‘Essay on the Nature of Trade in General‘ (1730)
At its most basic level, entrepreneurship refers to an individual or a small group of partners who strike out on an original path to create something new. An aspiring entrepreneur actively seeks a particular venture, and it is the entrepreneur who assumes the greatest amount of risk associated with the project. Hence they are risk-takers, distinct from a capitalist or worker, profiting from uncertainty in markets.
Joseph Schumpeter (20th century) redefined entrepreneurs as innovators driving “creative destruction” by disrupting old systems with new ideas.
S Stoicism
Founder: Zeno of Citium around 300 BCE. Zeno taught his ideas in a public colonnade known as the Stoa Poikile (Painted Porch), which is where the name “Stoicism” comes from. Reference: Marcus Aurelius (et al) ‘Meditation’ 180 CE “Our life is what our thoughts make it” “Higher perspective – Recognize what you can and can’t influence.” -> Focus your energy on the things that you can influence. “He who does not know what the world is, does not know where he is. And he who does not know for what purpose the world exists, does not know who he is, nor what the world is. But he who has failed in any one of these things could not even say for what purpose he exists himself.”
Young people from different backgrounds have a huge impact on us and all our activities. They highlight those parts of the society that are broken, so we can help them in all possible ways to regain hope and flourish in life.
MMindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of your body, mind, and feelings in the present moment. It’s concept originates from ancient Buddhist practices, particularly within the teachings of Siddhārtha Gautama, known as the Buddha, who lived around 563–483 BCE in what is now India and Nepal. Jon Kabat-Zinn (University of Massachusetts) reshaped and popularized it in the late 20th century for the modern world.

S Scepticism
Reference: Pyrrho of Elis
“Wise men are those who suspend judgement and take no part in the controversy regarding the possibility of certain knowledge.” Pyrrho’s skepticism centered on suspending judgment (epoché) about the nature of reality, arguing that since our senses and beliefs can be unreliable, we should refrain from making definitive claims about truth. This approach was influenced by his travels—possibly to India with Alexander the Great—where he may have encountered ideas from Buddhist or other ascetic traditions that questioned perception.
