Violence against women isn’t just a global crisis; it’s an everyday reality for millions. At EUSMS, we believe that ending violence begins with access to justice, equal rights, and economic empowerment. Our Women’s Protection Program exists to ensure that no woman suffers injustice in silence, especially in the workplace.
This mission does not stand alone. It aligns powerfully with UN Women’s UNiTE to End Violence Against Women campaign, a global call to action to prevent violence, support survivors, and transform harmful structures and norms.
What EUSMS Does: Protecting Women at Work, Restoring Dignity
EUSMS provides free legal counsel and representation for women who face:
-
Workplace harassment
-
Sexual violence
-
Discrimination
-
Unfair dismissal (including pregnancy-related)
-
Wage injustice
-
Hostile or abusive work environments
No woman should have to choose between her livelihood and her dignity.
Our aim is not only to help women fight back, but also to prevent future abuse by holding employers accountable and educating workplaces on rights, respect, and responsibility.
How our mission aligns with the UNiTE Campaign: Local action, Global vision
UN Women’s UNiTE initiative is a multiyear worldwide campaign calling for:
-
Prevention of all forms of violence
-
Support for survivors
-
Community-led activism
-
Systemic change
-
Education, awareness, and accountability
These goals mirror the heart of the EUSMS Women Protection Program.

Both EUSMS and UNiTE emphasize that violence is not just physical. It can be economic, psychological, institutional, and structural including injustice in the workplace.
By providing legal remedies and empowering women across East Africa, EUSMS turns global ideals into tangible justice and real-world support.
Why workplace protection is critical in ending violence against women
Gender-based violence in the workplace remains one of the most ignored forms of abuse. Yet it affects millions.
Women may experience:
-
Harassment or coercion
-
Retaliation after reporting abuse
-
Demotion or firing due to pregnancy
-
Exploitation or wage theft
-
Intimidation or manipulation
-
Psychological and emotional abuse
Workplace injustice is violence and ending it is essential to ending violence everywhere.
Economic empowerment gives women choices, and choice is the doorway to freedom, protection, and independence.
Strengthening the movement: How EUSMS amplifies the Global fight
EUSMS contributes to the global effort to end violence through:
1. Awareness & Education
Teaching women their rights, breaking silence, and making help accessible.
2. Legal Representation
Ensuring women have professional advocacy and justice when violations occur.
3. Data & Documentation
Using case insights to expose patterns and advocate for stronger protections.
4. Policy Influence & Partnerships
Collaborating with communities, NGOs, workplace organizations, and justice systems, aligning with the UNiTE call for “whole-of-society” action.
A shared future of safety, equity, and justice
EUSMS and UN Women share a single, powerful mission:
To build a world where every woman is safe, valued, and able to thrive without fear.
Ending violence against women demands more than awareness, it demands action, protection, and accountability. EUSMS stands in that gap every day, offering women across East Africa the justice, dignity, and support they deserve.
